LAS VEGAS, NV — An intensive digital forensics investigation spearheaded by the FBI’s regional cyber-crimes task force has culminated in a sweeping federal guilty plea inside the Lloyd D. George Federal Courthouse.
The conviction represents a major closure under the ongoing multi-agency “Project Safe Childhood” initiative.
The Digital Forensic Intercept
According to active criminal prosecution files unsealed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada, local resident Jesse Ross Cowie entered a formal guilty plea yesterday afternoon to one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
The plea follows a highly targeted internet sweep that ultimately led federal agents to execute a search warrant at Cowie’s Las Vegas home. A specialized forensic extraction of the defendant’s seized desktop towers and encrypted storage configurations uncovered an astronomical cache of illicit media consisting of 23,125 unique images and 1,861 individual videos. Prosecution briefs detailed that between late 2021 and early 2024, Cowie had systematically purchased the entire digital library from a convicted international producer.

Federal Mandates and Upcoming October Sentencing
The severity of the material—which predominantly depicted infants, toddlers, and children under the age of 12—prompted strong public statements from federal prosecutors and regional field leaders.
“By securing this guilty plea, we have fast-tracked justice for victims and ensured that this predator will be removed from our community,” stated First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah.
Christopher S. Delzotto, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Las Vegas Field Office, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the bureau’s unyielding stance on tracing and taking down offenders engaged in online exploitation.
Cowie has been remanded to federal detention protocols without bond to await formal judgment. Under federal sentencing guidelines, he faces a mandatory statutory minimum of five years and a maximum exposure of up to 20 years in federal prison for the receipt count alone. Final sentencing is officially on the docket for October 14, 2026, before United States District Judge Andrew P. Gordon.
