THEY/THEM, NOT YOU: Nevada Democrats Back Taxpayer-Funded Sex Changes, Males in Girls’ Sports

Nevada Democrat Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford voted Tuesday night against two amendments that would protect girls’ sports at Pentagon-run schools and stop the military’s taxpayer-funded health program from covering gender reassignment procedures.
The votes came during House consideration of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027. On both questions, Titus, Lee and Horsford broke with Nevada Republican Rep. Mark Amodei and voted with the overwhelming majority of Washington Democrats.
The first amendment, offered by Republican Reps. Nancy Mace of South Carolina and Claudia Tenney of New York, would prohibit biological males from participating in female sports at Department of Defense Education Activity schools. Those schools serve the children of American military families, but Titus, Lee and Horsford still voted “no,” siding with radical gender ideology over the daughters of the men and women defending the country.
The amendment passed 219 to 208 at 9:46 p.m. Only five Democrats supported it. Titus, Lee and Horsford had an easy opportunity to defend fairness, safety and equal athletic opportunities for girls, yet all three chose the far-left position rejected by common sense and basic biology.
Two minutes later, the Nevada Democrats did it again. A second Mace amendment would prohibit TRICARE, the taxpayer-funded health program for servicemembers and their families, from covering certain gender-related treatments, including genital surgeries, facial feminization surgery, breast augmentation, hormone treatments and puberty blockers.
Titus, Lee and Horsford voted against that prohibition, effectively voting to keep taxpayer-funded sex-change procedures on the Pentagon’s menu. The amendment nevertheless passed 221 to 203, with only five Democrats willing to buck their party’s gender-ideology enforcers.
The roll calls were recorded at 9:46 p.m. and 9:48 p.m., the kind of late-night Washington voting window politicians use when they would prefer their constituents remain blissfully unaware. The timing looked less like courage than concealment, but the congressional record is permanent and the three Nevada Democrats’ fingerprints are all over it.
There is no euphemism elastic enough to disguise what happened. On one vote, Titus, Lee and Horsford refused to protect girls from being forced to compete against biological males. On the next, they refused to stop taxpayers from financing irreversible gender procedures through the military health system.
Nevada families are worried about grocery bills, housing costs, gasoline prices, safe streets and whether their children will inherit a country that still recognizes reality. Titus, Lee and Horsford are busy demanding that military daughters surrender their playing fields while taxpayers surrender their wallets to the left’s gender-industrial complex.
That disconnect is especially dangerous in a Nevada electorate that has been marching away from the Democrat Party’s cultural extremism. Donald Trump carried the Silver State in 2024, becoming the first Republican presidential candidate to win Nevada since 2004, yet Titus, Lee and Horsford apparently interpreted that warning as an invitation to sprint even farther left.
Nevada is a working-class state built by miners, veterans, hospitality workers, small-business owners and families who do not need a Washington bureaucrat to explain the difference between a boy and a girl. The Silver State’s political movement reflects growing disgust with elites who sneer at common sense, drain taxpayers and then hide behind clinical jargon when confronted with the consequences.
“Democrats Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford just made it crystal clear: they are for they/them, not for Nevadans. They couldn’t be more out of touch with Nevada families,” NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez said.
Titus, Lee and Horsford can dodge interviews, bury the votes in legislative jargon and hope the late hour keeps the story out of sight. They cannot erase the record: when forced to choose between Nevada families and the radical gender lobby, all three bent the knee to the radicals.
