Las Vegas Police Investigate Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting Outside Boulder Highway Walmart

LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday morning outside a Walmart Supercenter in the southeast valley.

The incident left one suspect dead and drew a massive law enforcement response to a major commercial corridor.

Disturbance Escalates to Gunfire

According to preliminary information provided by Metro officials, patrol units were dispatched around 6:03 AM to reports of a physical fight involving multiple individuals near the 5100 block of Boulder Highway, near Nellis Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers confronted a suspect in the commercial parking lot area. During the encounter, at least one responding officer discharged their firearm, striking the individual.

Medical personnel responded to the scene, but the suspect succumbed to their injuries. No police officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.

Store Evacuated and Perimeter Established

Following the shooting, law enforcement officers secured the immediate area, safely evacuating Walmart shoppers and store staff into designated parking zones.

Detectives with Metro’s Force Investigation Team (FIT) closed off access to the commercial parking lot and surrounding transit lanes to collect physical evidence, interview witnesses, and review surveillance camera footage.

Per standard department procedure, the identity of the officer involved will be released within 48 hours, followed by a comprehensive video briefing detailing body-worn camera footage within 72 hours. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased suspect once formal next-of-kin notifications are complete.
