MARIE ANTOINETTE OF NEVADA: Susie Lee Stiffs Kids, Struts With Apparent $42K Hermès Handbag

Video posted by the National Republican Congressional Committee shows Lee being asked why she voted to deny children the investment. The timing of her supposed phone call was immaculate. The accountability, less so.
Lee voted “no” on President Donald Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts, which established investment accounts for American children and seeded accounts for eligible children born between 2025 and 2028 with a one-time $1,000 Treasury contribution. Nevada Republican Rep. Mark Amodei voted for the legislation.
The accounts invest in a broad stock-market index and are designed to give children a foundation for education, homeownership or entrepreneurship when they reach adulthood. White House economic estimates project that even the untouched $1,000 contribution could grow to approximately $5,800 by age 18 and $18,100 by age 28.
Lee tried to kill that opportunity before it ever reached a Nevada nursery. Then, when asked to explain herself, she appeared to perform the congressional equivalent of pretending the principal was calling.
The accessory dangling from Lee’s arm made the spectacle even more grotesque. The purse appears to be a Hermès Kelly, an exclusive status symbol that can command roughly $42,000 on the luxury resale market, depending on the model and condition.
That would make Lee’s handbag worth 42 times the investment she voted to deny a child.
For working Nevada parents juggling mortgage payments, grocery bills, child care and gasoline, $1,000 invested at birth can become the beginning of something meaningful. For Susie Lee, apparently, it is pocket change that would not cover one handle on her designer purse.
The display was especially rich coming from a politician previously criticized for failing to properly disclose roughly 200 stock trades worth as much as $3.3 million. Crooked Susie Lee has millions moving through the market, a luxury handbag hanging from her arm and no time to answer why she voted against giving Nevada children their first stake in America’s prosperity.
This is the decadent face of the modern Democrat Party. Its politicians lecture working families about sacrifice, vote to seize their tax relief and sabotage their children’s opportunities, then glide through the Capitol draped in accessories that cost more than many Nevadans earn in a year.
Nevada voters have already begun rejecting that gilded contempt. Trump carried the Silver State in 2024, becoming the first Republican presidential candidate to win Nevada since 2004, because working-class voters are tired of politicians who campaign like populists and govern like palace courtiers.
“If shameless elitism carried a purse, it would be dangling from crooked Susie Lee’s arm. Lee has millions in stock trades, a five-figure handbag, and the nerve to stiff working families,” NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez said.
Lee found room in her life for a handbag worth tens of thousands of dollars. She simply could not find room in her agenda for a $1,000 investment in Nevada’s children.
