RENO, NV — Interagency wildland fire crews successfully halted forward progress overnight on the Moose Fire (also referred to as the Moose Ridge Fire), a brush fire that ignited along the lower slopes of Peavine Peak in Northwest Reno.

Emergency dispatchers first received reports of heavy smoke and flame near the intersection of Moose Ridge Drive and Fox Trail Drive in the Mogul neighborhood above Somersett.

Driven by dry brush fuels and steep terrain, the fire burned uphill away from nearby residential developments.
