CRIME CRASH: Violent Crime Plunges at Historic Rate as Trump Law-and-Order Agenda Leaves Nevada Democrats Cornered

Violent crime plunged across the United States in 2025 at the fastest annual rate since the FBI began producing national estimates nearly 90 years ago, delivering President Donald Trump and Republicans a mammoth law-and-order talking point just months before voters decide control of Congress.

New FBI statistics show violent crime fell 9.3 percent from 2024 to 2025. Murder dropped 18.1 percent, robbery fell 18.5 percent, rape declined 7.6 percent and aggravated assault dropped 7.2 percent. The national murder rate fell to 4.1 per 100,000 people, tying 1955 and 1956 for the lowest rate recorded in the FBI’s historical estimates. Property crime plunged another 12.4 percent.

The carnage is not merely slowing. It is reversing.

The White House says the 2025 numbers amounted to nearly 38,500 fewer robberies, more than 10,000 fewer rape victims, over 62,700 fewer aggravated assaults and roughly 750,000 fewer property crimes. Preliminary national data entering 2026 suggests the decline is continuing, with the FBI Crime Data Explorer currently showing murder down another 19.1 percent and robbery down another 19.1 percent for May 2025 through April 2026.

Trump’s administration credits its aggressive enforcement posture, immigration crackdown and renewed emphasis on backing law enforcement. Crime researchers caution that nationwide crime trends rarely have a single cause and that the decline began before Trump returned to office. What cannot be debated is the scoreboard: Americans are experiencing fewer murders, robberies and assaults dramatically.

Nevada is riding the same law-and-order wave.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department data showed violent crime fell 4.3 percent in 2025 and property crime dropped 9.4 percent. Homicides fell to 90, compared with 158 in 2021, while year-end LVMPD statistics showed murder and non-negligent manslaughter down 22.5 percent from 2024. Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo, a former Clark County sheriff, has made public safety a central pillar of his administration.

That creates a brutal contrast for Nevada Democrats Dina Titus and Susie Lee, whom national Republicans have spent months branding as foot soldiers for the party’s soft-on-crime wing.

The NRCC attacked Titus, Lee and Steven Horsford earlier this year after they voted against federal funding legislation during the Democrat fight over immigration enforcement, accusing them of siding with activists seeking to defund ICE. The committee separately hammered the trio when Las Vegas murder numbers began falling, arguing their support for Biden-era border policies had put Nevada communities at greater risk.

Republicans are now poised to drag that record directly into the congressional battlefield.

Marty O’Donnell, the Trump-backed Republican challenging Lee in NV-03, is running heavily on restoring affordability, public safety and common sense after years of Democrat governance. Trump narrowly carried Lee’s district in 2024, while Lombardo’s 2022 victory and Trump’s statewide win two years later shattered the old assumption that Nevada would obediently remain blue.

“It’s amazing what can be accomplished when Republicans like Joe Lombardo and Marty O’Donnell are in charge and not Democrats who want to defund the police and abolish prisons,” RNC Spokesman Nick Poche said.

For Titus and Lee, the political problem is becoming painfully simple.

Republicans wanted law and order. Crime collapsed.
