Man Booked for Three Counts of Murder After Surrendering at Substation for O'Bannon Drive Triple Homicide

LAS VEGAS, NV — A 29-year-old man is in custody facing multiple counts of open murder after walking into a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department substation and confessing to fatally shooting his girlfriend and her two children inside a west valley apartment.

The suspect, identified by police as Juan Orona, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC) on three counts of Open Murder with the Use of a Deadly Weapon and ten counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Structure.

Walk-In Confession at Police Substation

The investigation unfolded when Orona entered the lobby of the LVMPD Southeast Area Command on South Eastern Avenue.

Orona told desk personnel that he had shot his girlfriend and her two children and stated that he wanted to turn himself in. During his surrender, officers observed that Orona was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel transported him under police guard to a local hospital, where he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries before being released to detectives.

Discovery Inside O’Bannon Drive Apartment

Simultaneously, patrol officers were dispatched to the apartment complex identified by Orona in the 5100 block of O’Bannon Drive, located near South Decatur Boulevard and West Sahara Avenue.

Upon making entry into the residence, officers discovered three victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds: an adult female, a teenage female, and a young boy under the age of 10. Emergency medical responders pronounced all three victims deceased at the scene.
