Suspect in the Las Vegas Stabbings Had a Criminal Record

LAS VEGAS – Yoni Barrios, 32, the undocumented immigrant suspected in the Las Vegas Strip stabbing spree, has a criminal history in California.

According to an arrest report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Barrios had arrived in Las Vegas from California two days before the incident. According to the report, Barrios was going to move in with a friend, but the friend told him he couldn’t. After that, Barrios loaded up his bags and caught a bus to the Las Vegas Strip, where he arrived at about 8 a.m. on Thursday.

As the report states, Barrios complained to authorities that fellow bus riders had made fun of him on the way to the Strip.

According to the allegation, Barrios also visited the Wynn Hotel and Casino, where he had a job interview with a janitor. The janitor reportedly told ICE that Barrios had urged him to contact the agency on his behalf so that he might return to Guatemala. The complaint continues to state that Barrios attempted to sell his blades to a security guard at the Wynn. The security guard “told Barrios to leap in front of a train,” the arrest report states.

The next day, Barrios allegedly confronted a group of four showgirl impersonators outside the hotel, introducing himself as a chef before charging at them when one of the ladies left.

After initially running away, the girl later told police she “felt pressure on her back and collapsed to the ground.” The teen continued, saying that she witnessed Barrios rushing toward one of the victims, later identified as 30-year-old Maris Digiovanni.
