LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – A Las Vegas woman accused with the 2019 murder of a California doctor accepted a plea agreement that ensures her eligibility for parole in ten years.
Kelsey Turner entered an Alford plea to second-degree murder, which indicates she is not admitting guilty but accepts there is enough evidence to condemn her.
Prosecutors allege that Turner and her boyfriend, Jon Kennison, murdered 71-year-old physician Thomas Burchard and concealed him in the trunk of a vehicle abandoned in the desert near Lake Mead in March 2019.
Turner, according to police, had a connection with Burchard and paid her rent.
Kennison received a jail term ranging from 18 to 45 years for his part in Burchard’s death. Diana Nicole Pena, the couple’s roommate, pled guilty to being an accomplice to murder after her charge of murder was reduced.
