FALLON, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – A plan to broaden the U.S. The Fallon Range Complex of the Navy will be included in the forthcoming fiscal year’s National Defense Authorization Act.
Democratic Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, as well as Republican Rep. Mark Amodei, made it a priority to include the project in the yearly budget package. The arrangement would add 558,535 acres to the Fallon Range Exercises Complex for military training.
Rosen’s Lander County Property Management and Conservation Act, which transfers land to Lander County to enhance airports, give access to water infrastructure, expand recreation and outdoor tourist options, and assist economic growth, is also included in the bipartisan agreement. A new wilderness area of 14,000 acres will also be established.
The Fallon compromise includes mitigations for local and tribal governments, such as the protection of over 500,000 acres of public lands, the management and protection of tribal and cultural resources, and the continuation of access for Tribes, sportsmen, and the general public. Churchill County will receive additional land for economic development and public use.
“The City of Fallon is pleased that our voices have been heard and our views represented in this legislation. We know many parties’ interests were involved but as always, Senator Cortez Masto was masterful in bringing those many different interests together to reach a solution that both addresses national security and respects local interests,” said Fallon Mayor Ken Tedford. “We’re grateful for the collaboration from the entire Nevada delegation to move this proposal forward.”
