Las Vegas Police Says 24-Year-Old Woman Dies in Suspected Dui Accident

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – A 24-year-old woman was died in a suspected DUI collision overnight, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
According to LVMPD, the collision occurred around 12:16 a.m. On December 16, near Nellis Boulevard and Meikle Lane, south of Lake Mead Boulevard. According to authorities, a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on Nellis when it crossed over the opposite lanes and drove up on the sidewalk. The automobile drove through a chain-link fence and onto a vacant lot, where it crashed into a metal pole of a billboard and a brick wall.
The passenger, a 24-year-old lady, was killed in the accident and declared dead at the scene, according to police. The driver, Jesus Martinez-Ruiz, 21, of North Las Vegas, received minor injuries.
Martinez-Ruiz is accused of driving while intoxicated, according to police, and has been lodged into the Clark County Detention Center.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will identify the lady who was slain after her next of kin has been contacted.
The passenger’s death is the 145th traffic-related fatality under the jurisdiction of the LVMPD in 2022.
