Family of Man Killed in Hit-And-Run Is Holding Vigil Along the Boulder Highway

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – In the first week of the new year, there have already been two fatal collisions on the roads in the Las Vegas valley, and more have occurred recently.

A memorial was held on Tuesday in memory of a man who died last Wednesday while crossing Boulder Highway. Talked with his family about the changes they want to see made to stop terrible tragedies from happening in the future.

“I want to bring awareness to everybody that they shouldn’t be jaywalking, or the city should put crosswalks or at least a blinking light for the pedestrians as it’s so dark out here to see while driving,” Angela Esqueda shared.

Angela, who had been married to Manuel for 18 years, laments his passing as she places red-themed flowers and candles on the ground.

On December 28, Manuel Esqueda attempted to cross Boulder Highway outside of a designated crosswalk on his way home after playing pool at the neighborhood bar. He was slain at that point when the driver was leaving.

“My loving husband died right here and maybe it will save a life and they will see it, not jaywalk or cross,” Angela said referring to the vigil she and her family set up in his honor.
