RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – For locals in Sparks, seeing emergency personnel on Prater Way is not unusual.
“I’ve seen cars go through our neighbor’s fence over there, I’ve seen them upside down,” said Wendy Flippo, a resident down the street from the accident.
According to Sparks Police, a hit-and-run on Tuesday morning killed a lady who was crossing the roadway near Prater and Probasco.
This is a recurring occurrence for neighbors like Flippo. A regular struggle is the treacherous traffic.
“I walk to work and walk home every day and I’ve almost been hit by cars,” she said.
Rafael Acevedo, who lives across the street, has dealt with fast drivers before. In his front yard, four of them broke through his fence.
“Very dangerous for every person, walking or not walking or inside the house,” Acevedo said.
There is a crosswalk at the Prater and Probasco crossing, however there is just a flashing yellow light for automobiles.
“They have ran around me, I’ll be in the crosswalk and they’ll go in the back or the front of me,” Flippo explained.
“Cars have almost hit me because they don’t stop.”
Flippo claims that she is concerned about the pupils that walk to Sparks High School and Dilworth Middle School.
“They come by our house, sometimes they’re in the road and the cars are just they don’t slowdown,” she said.
The fatal hit-and-run is being looked into by Sparks Police, who are looking for any evidence that might identify the motorist who fled the scene.
“If anyone knows anything about this vehicle that was involved in this accident, that they would come forward,” Sparks Police Department Public Information Officer Stephen Goodrum said on scene.
Residents claim that until this region is given greater care, severe incidents would inevitably occur.
“That could have been me. That could have been me walking to work,” Flippo said.
Call or text Secret Witness at 775-322-4900 if you would want to provide information on the hit-and-run without revealing your identity.
