‘Families Deserve Options’ Charter School Moves to New West Las Vegas Valley Location

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – On Thursday, a number of regional dignitaries attended the launch of Sage Public Charter School.

Less than two months ago, the school relocated from a temporary facility to a new one.

Parents expressed a desire for a new choice in the westside of Las Vegas to the school’s principal.

“65% of the schools in this community, are one and two-star schools,” Sandra Kinne the founder and executive director of Sage Charter School said. “In talking with families, there was a real interest in having some public options here in these zip codes.”

The charter school’s guiding principle is to get pupils ready for college.

Each classroom has the name of a university or institution.

From kindergarten through eighth grade, the administration aspires to have 800 pupils. However, there are now just 200 students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade.

“Families deserve options for their children in a public setting,” Kinne said.

According to Kinne, 65% of Sage students are eligible for free or reduced-priced school meals.

The neighborhood, which is on the western side of the Las Vegas valley, is home to various Clark County schools, including the Wasden, Vegas Verdes, Doris Hancock, and Rex Bell primary schools.
