FOUND: Luke Saunders Found Dead At Red Rock Park

LAS VEGAS – Thursday, the body of a hiker who had been missing for a while was found at Red Rock Recreation Area.
On January 26, around 8 a.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police began a rescue operation.
Luke Saunders, who was 22 years old, was found dead at Red Rock, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office. As of Friday, the cause and way of his death were still unknown.
Saunders was last seen hiking in Red Rock Canyon on January 24. Both Red Rock Search and Rescue and the LVMPD said they were looking for Saunders.
Lt. Col. Bryon McGarry, a spokesman for Nellis Air Force Base, made the following statement:
We are saddened to confirm the death of Senior Airman Luke Saunders, whose remains were located following an exhaustive search near Red Rock Canyon, Nevada, Jan. 26. Airman Saunders was a model Airman and consummate professional while assigned to the 66th Rescue Generation Squadron and he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with Airman Saunders’ family, friends and teammates during this difficult time. Nellis Air Force Base leaders are postured to provide every comfort and assistance to our community as we navigate this tragedy together.
