Clark County Approved a New Housing Development in Red Rock Canyon
LAS VEGAS – Clark County approved a new housing development in Red Rock Canyon on Tuesday.
Blue Diamond Hill will have 429 single-family houses built by Gypsum Resources. The proposed site is 2.5 miles northwest of Blue Diamond Road and Route 159 in Red Rock.
Developers needed a county permit to proceed. Gypsum Resources’ application was approved at 1 p.m.
Save Red Rock, a local conservation group, opposes the plan.
A spokeswoman stated the developer’s proposal “violates county code and legal agreements.”
“…it demands access off SR 159,” Save Red Rock said. “Scenic Byway 159 has high traffic and dangerous circumstances.”
Commissioner Justin Jones tweeted about this.
