Cheyenne Avenue Reopens After Closure Due Three-vehicle Crash School Bus Involved

LAS VEGAS – Three-vehicle crash involving a school bus in North Las Vegas on Tuesday afternoon led to the closure of Cheyenne Avenue near Englestad Street. The incident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. when a black Honda Civic heading eastbound on Cheyenne Avenue collided with a purple Kia Optima pulling out of a private drive and onto the same road.

According to police reports, the impact caused the Kia to rotate in an eastbound direction along Cheyenne Avenue. At the same time, a Clark County School District (CCSD) school bus was traveling westbound on Cheyenne Avenue towards Englestad Street. The bus driver witnessed the initial collision and was able to come to a stop, but the Kia continued to rotate and hit the front of the bus.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash, and the driver was unharmed. However, both drivers and a passenger in the Honda sustained injuries and were taken to University Medical Center (UMC) for treatment. The severity of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Cheyenne Avenue in both directions was closed to traffic while authorities investigated the accident. The road was reopened to traffic at around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
