Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board Issues Warning About Unapproved Pesticide in Cannabis Products

NEVADA – Nevada’s Cannabis Compliance Board has issued a warning regarding cannabis products sold in the state over the last month, stating that they were grown using an unapproved pesticide. The board specifically mentioned the use of Ethephon, which is not on the list of approved pesticides for cannabis growth in Nevada. Unfortunately, the testing facilities used to analyze the products are not equipped to detect Ethephon, making it impossible to identify all of the contaminated products.

The only Northern Nevada business affected by this issue was Newe Dispensary in Elko, while the rest were in Clark County. The affected products, including Apple Fritter, Double OG Sour, Kush Mints, Kobe, and Zummy Bearz, were sold between March 23 and April 21 at various cannabis businesses in Nevada.

According to the list provided by the board, these businesses include Circle S Farms LLC DBA CannaStarz, MMOF Vegas Retail Inc. DBA MedMen, Inyo Fine Cannabis Dispensary LLC, Desert Aire Wellness LLC DBA 420 Sahara, Clark NMSD LLC DBA The Sanctuary, Silver Sage Wellness LLC, Las Vegas Tribe of Paiute Indians DBA NuWu Cannabis Marketplace, and Elko Band Colony of the Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians of Nevada DBA Newe Dispensary.

The board is urging customers who have purchased any of the listed products during the given period to dispose of them immediately or return them to the dispensary of purchase. The affected businesses have also been instructed to notify their customers of the issue and arrange for refunds or exchanges if necessary.
