NEVADA – The Nevada Assembly and Senate pass amended version of the stadium funding bill for the Oakland A’s. Bill now awaits Governor’s decision.
The Nevada Assembly has approved the amended version of the bill for funding the proposed Oakland A’s stadium with a vote of 25-15, while the Senate passed it with a margin of 13-8. The bill will now return to the Senate for final approval.
The amended bill includes changes such as specifying the stadium’s location in the general area of the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Ave. Previously, the bill proposed an unincorporated Clark County site.
Sections 29 and 30 of the bill outline the responsibility of the Board of County Commissioners to pay the principal, interest, and other payments on bonds issued by the county. It also requires the pledge of certain taxes, fees, and charges imposed by the state and county.
Furthermore, new amendments to SB1 establish a procedure for the Clark County treasurer to seek approval from the Interim Finance Committee to access funds from a credit enhancement for scheduled payments.
The fate of the bill now rests with Governor Joe Lombardo, who will decide whether to approve or veto the legislation. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
