LAS VEGAS – Gibson Elementary School in Henderson has made the decision to cancel classes for Tuesday due to a significant number of teacher and staff absences. Principal Jill Keith communicated this news to families, emphasizing that students should not report to the campus on Tuesday.
The exact reason for the unusually high number of licensed staff and teacher absences remains unclear at this time. Principal Keith expressed regret for the inconvenience but stressed that it was a challenging decision they had to make.
Parents and guardians of Gibson Elementary School students can expect to receive further information later on Tuesday, outlining plans for classes resuming on Wednesday. As the situation unfolds, the school administration is working diligently to address the staffing issue.
In response to the unexpected closure, the city of Henderson has stepped in to support families. They have opened the Battle Born Kids program at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, conveniently located just across the street from Gibson Elementary. Parents have the option to register online through the city of Henderson website or in person at the recreation center. City officials have assured parents that childcare services will be provided in the event of any additional school closures, ensuring that families have necessary support during these unforeseen circumstances.
