NBA G-League Player, Chance Comanche, Allegedly Plotted Murder During Game; Confession Unveils Chilling Details

LAS VEGAS – Chance Comanche, a 27-year-old NBA G-League player, is suspected of plotting a murder while playing for the Sacramento Stockton Kings on December 2. According to an arrest record acquired by 8 News Now Investigators, Comanche and his accused co-conspirator, 19-year-old Sakari Harnden, are now charged in Las Vegas Justice Court with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and kidnapping.

The victim, identified as Marayna Rodgers, 23, was reportedly a medical assistant from Washington state. Her remains were discovered in Henderson, just outside of Las Vegas. Rodgers, who had traveled to Las Vegas on December 1 with her boyfriend, was allegedly engaged in prostitution, according to the arrest report. Friends of Rodgers informed detectives that she was a sex worker, making it unusual for her not to check-in or return from her “dates.”

The arrest report outlines a motive for the murder, citing that Harnden was upset with Rodgers for disclosing Harnden’s boyfriend’s involvement in a double murder in California. This boyfriend was already in custody for the mentioned crime.

The report reveals disturbing messages exchanged on the communication application Telegram between Comanche and Harnden, detailing the planning of the kidnapping and murder. Comanche allegedly provided personal information about Rodgers, including her full name, social security number, and Instagram page.

The chilling messages included plans to lure Rodgers by pretending to be a client and later suggested poisoning her or using violence. Comanche messaged Harnden, “Get that [expletive] drunk and mix rat poison or sum in her drink,” and later discussed methods like snapping her neck or strangling her.

On the night of December 5, Comanche, posing as a potential client, met Rodgers while his team played at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson. The next morning, Rodgers was reported missing.

The case initially began as a missing persons investigation but turned into a homicide case after detectives discovered the Telegram messages. The investigation included evidence such as surveillance footage, revealing Comanche’s movements, and videos of Harnden leaving Comanche’s hotel room visibly upset.

Harnden was taken into custody on December 13, claiming Rodgers got into an Uber the last time she was seen. However, an emergency Uber request contradicted her claim. Comanche, arrested in Sacramento County, admitted to planning and carrying out the murder, describing the gruesome details of strangulation.

Both Comanche and Harnden face multiple charges, including murder and conspiracy. Comanche has been placed in jail without bond and is set to appear in court, while Harnden faces an additional theft charge related to a stolen Rolex.
