Final Update from North Las Vegas Police Department on June 24 Shootings

The North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) has released its final update on the tragic events of June 24, which resulted in five deaths and a 13-year-old girl critically injured.

Incident Overview:

NLVPD homicide detectives have determined that the suspect, Eric Adams, was visiting his 45-year-old ex-girlfriend at a ground-floor apartment located at 370 Casa Norte Drive. An argument ensued between them, leading Adams to arm himself with a gun. He then shot and killed the ex-girlfriend’s 24-year-old daughter and the daughter’s 22-year-old girlfriend.

A 20-year-old upstairs neighbor, who knew the women in the ground-floor apartment, overheard the commotion and went downstairs to assist. Adams shot and killed him as well.

The man’s 59-year-old grandmother, 40-year-old mother, and 13-year-old sister occupied the upstairs apartment. Adams proceeded to the upstairs apartment and shot all three family members, leaving the 13-year-old critically injured.

Victims Identified:

– Amy Damian, 40
– Damiana Moreno, 59
– Kayla Harris, 24
– Jeannette Faria-Webster, 22
– Christopher Damian, 20 (identified by family members)
– Olivia Damian, 13 (critically injured)

Two additional family members, both in their late teens, were present in the upstairs apartment but were unharmed and remained out of sight.

Hostage Situation and Escape:

Following the shootings, Adams took his ex-girlfriend hostage and fled the scene. In the early hours of June 25, she managed to escape unharmed and alerted a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Bolden Area Command patrol officer, providing details of the incident.

Apprehension and Suspect’s Death:

On Tuesday morning, NLVPD detectives and officers from the Criminal Apprehension Team tracked Adams to a business on E. Lake Mead Boulevard. Adams was located in the 1600 block of Dwayne Stedman Avenue, where he fled into the backyard of a residence armed with a firearm. Despite officers’ commands to disarm, Adams took his own life.

The surviving victims and their families are receiving support from the North Las Vegas Police Department, victim advocates, and detectives to help them through this difficult time.
