LAS VEGAS, NV – A devastating fire tore through an apartment building in the central Las Vegas valley on Sunday evening, claiming the life of one person and leaving four others hospitalized.

The blaze was reported around 7:36 p.m. in the 3900 block of Spencer Street, near Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road, according to Clark County Assistant Fire Chief Carlito Rayos.

Upon arrival, firefighters found multiple units engulfed in flames, prompting a second alarm to summon additional resources. Ten engines, two ladder trucks, two rescue units, a squad, and a resource unit were deployed to combat the inferno.

Four individuals suffered burns and other injuries while escaping the building and were transported to local hospitals. Tragically, one of the victims later succumbed to their injuries.

No firefighters were injured during the incident.

As of Monday morning, the cause of the fire remained under investigation. An estimated 30 residents were displaced by the blaze, and the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada is providing assistance to those in need.

Keith Paul, a Red Cross spokesperson, stated that the organization is offering support to all affected individuals, ensuring they have access to essential resources and shelter.

The incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of fire safety measures and preparedness. Authorities are urging residents to maintain working smoke detectors and have evacuation plans in place to ensure their safety in the event of a fire.
