In one of the largest political rallies in modern Nevada history, Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz continued their nationwide campaign tour as the new Democratic presidential ticket. On Saturday, over 12,000 people gathered at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, with local law enforcement turning away 4,000 more due to heat concerns.
The event marked the final stop on their weeklong tour of battleground states, highlighting the Democrats’ renewed efforts to keep Nevada in the blue column. Harris made headlines with a promise to eliminate federal taxes on tips for service industry workers—a policy that was initially proposed by former President Trump.
The rally, which drew significant enthusiasm and a surge in volunteer sign-ups, underscored the campaign’s momentum following President Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race. Attendees, including many first-time rally-goers, expressed newfound excitement and engagement with Harris leading the ticket.
The event was also notable for the presence of Nevada’s entire Democratic congressional delegation, who joined Harris and Walz on stage, reflecting the high stakes of the upcoming election in this critical swing state.
