As early voting begins and only 15 days to election day, Senator J.D. Vance is scheduled to host a campaign event at the Silver Legacy in Reno on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. This is Vance’s second trip to Reno since being announced as former President Trump’s running mate.

Last July, Vance visited Reno as part of a campaign swing through Washoe County, an important swing county for the campaign as Trump seeks to win Nevada as a Republican candidate for U.S. President, a feat no republican has won since 2004.

Vice President Kamala Harris has yet to make a campaign stop in Washoe County and has relied on surrogates, including her husband and running mate Tim Walz, to campaign on her behalf. Despite her past comments that 18-24 year olds were “stupid,” she, along with Democratic Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar, has been targeting this demographic with text messages to get out the vote on Democrats’ behalf.

When The Globe asked J.D. Vance about his message to Gen Z voters, Vance told The Globe, “My pitch would be that President Trump and I want to make it possible for you to live your dreams. I think part of that is making sure you’ve got a good job and you work hard.”

According to the press release, Vance’s message will reiterate Trump’s economic plan to reduce household costs which have skyrocketed since the Biden-Harris administration assumed office in January 2021. The economic plan also includes eliminating tax on tips for hospitality workers and eliminate taxes on overtime pay.
