Las Vegas Election Worker Reports Assault at Bus Stop, Investigation Underway

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, November 5, 2024 9:38 am

Las Vegas authorities are investigating claims made by a temporary election worker, Brandi Lapriore, who reported being attacked while waiting at a bus stop on the evening of October 26. The incident occurred on Eastern Avenue near Bonanza, and Metro Police, along with officials from Clark County and the Nevada Secretary of State’s office, are looking into the matter.

A county spokesperson confirmed that the situation is under review, describing it as an “isolated incident.”

Lapriore recounted that the encounter began when a man approached her to ask about bus arrival times. The conversation then shifted to politics, with the man mentioning a podcast episode featuring Joe Rogan and Donald Trump. Lapriore, who preferred to avoid discussing political topics, politely declined to engage. “I said, ‘I don’t even talk about politics at work. It’s not something that we discuss,’” she explained.

Despite her repeated requests for the man to leave her alone, the situation escalated, and she alleges that he attacked her. The investigation remains active as officials work to gather more information about the incident and ensure the safety of all election workers.
