LAS VEGAS – A man already in custody for a 2024 murder is now facing additional charges after police say he lured another victim to a remote desert area under the false pretense of a job opportunity before killing him.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, 30-year-old D’Andre Owens was re-booked this week for the murder of Edward John Kukish, whose remains were discovered on August 9, 2024, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Pabco Road. Investigators revealed Kukish had not been seen or heard from since January 2024.
Authorities linked Owens to the murder through forensic ballistics, which matched a cartridge case found near Kukish’s body to the same weapon used in the January 2024 murder of Brittani Bailey, whose body was found inside a Las Vegas Strip hotel room. Police determined both victims were shot with a firearm equipped with a silencer, further solidifying the connection.
Detectives uncovered text messages revealing Owens posted a fake job listing for “Desert Trash Pick Up” and used it to lure Kukish to the isolated location before allegedly killing him. Owens had already been arrested and charged with Bailey’s murder in February 2024 and has remained in custody at Clark County Detention Center ever since.
Owens is scheduled to appear in court for Kukish’s murder on Monday, March 3, while his trial for Bailey’s murder is set for September.
This remains a developing case. Stay with us for further updates.
