Knives, Fights, and Fear, The Violence Plaguing Nevada’s Classrooms

Part 4:

My son Ben came home last month, pale as a ghost. He saw a fight in the hallway at his Reno school, a teacher got punched trying to break it up. I hugged him tight, but inside, I was screaming. This isn’t a school, it’s a battlefield. I’m terrified every morning when I kiss my kids goodbye, wondering if they’ll make it through the day without a bruise or worse. Nevada’s schools are out of control, and I’m done pretending it’s okay.

Just this spring, an armed intruder walked into Reno High. Kids hid under desks while the school went on lockdown. The district’s response? A vague email about “safety protocols.” In Clark County, over 1,200 violent incidents were reported last year, fights, assaults, you name it. My stomach churns thinking about Sarah walking those halls. Nevada has laws that let schools press charges against violent kids, but principals look the other way, babbling about “restorative practices.” Restorative? Tell that to the teacher with a black eye.

I love my kids, and I love the teachers trying to do their jobs in this mess. But I hate this system that lets thugs run wild. I’m anxious every day, wondering if Ben or Sarah will be the next victim. Parents across Nevada are feeling this fear, and we’re fed up. The violence is bad enough, but it’s not the only poison in our schools. Drugs are everywhere, and I’m going to expose it next.

Stay tuned, in Part 5, I uncover how drugs have invaded our schools and why it’s poisoning our kids’ futures.
