A judge has sentenced Spencer McDonald to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murders of his grandmother, her boyfriend, and a maintenance worker in a Las Vegas apartment earlier this year. The deaths occurred on June 27, 2023, at the Rancho de Montana Apartments on East Flamingo Avenue. The victims were identified as 80-year-old Diana Raker Vail, her boyfriend Andrew John Graden, and maintenance worker Christopher Paul Brassard. Brandishing what authorities referred to as a “cosplay sword,” McDonald killed Vail and subsequently attacked Graden, then waited for Brassard—a worker conducting a welfare check—before attacking him as well. Another maintenance worker escaped with injuries and now relies on a cane to walk.
