NRCC Launches Ad Targeting Nevada Democrats Over Government Shutdown

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is hitting Nevada Democrats with a blistering new ad campaign, accusing them of grinding America to a halt by putting politics and illegal immigrants ahead of working families.
The digital ad, released Tuesday, blasts Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford for supporting a government shutdown that threatens the livelihoods of everyday Nevadans. The spot highlights the risks to military families, border security, small businesses, and disaster relief funding, painting Nevada Democrats as willing to jeopardize all of it to appease the far left.
“Democrats shut it down,” the ad begins, splicing together clips of news anchors acknowledging that Democrats are driving the shutdown standoff. It goes on to say, “So now military troops, police, and Border Patrol lose their paychecks. Because of Democrats, veterans, farmers, and small businesses lose critical funding. Disaster relief, cut off. Democrats are grinding America to a halt in order to give illegal immigrants free health care.”
The ad then urges viewers: “Tell Democrats: Stop the shutdown.”
NRCC spokesman Christian Martinez said Nevada’s Democratic delegation has abandoned the people they were elected to serve:
“Out of touch Democrats Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford are grinding America to a halt. Titus, Lee, and Horsford’s shutdown put critical programs that Nevadans rely on at risk, just so they can prioritize open borders and handouts for illegal immigrants. Voters won’t forgive this betrayal.”
The NRCC’s strategy is clear: pin the blame for the shutdown squarely on Nevada Democrats and tie the consequences directly to local families. By emphasizing risks to veterans, small businesses, and first responders, Republicans are seeking to contrast their own calls to keep the government open with what they describe as Democrats’ reckless political gamesmanship.
The stakes are high in Nevada, where Lee and Horsford face competitive re-election battles in swing districts. Republicans view both as vulnerable, and with Nevada’s working-class economy heavily dependent on service workers, tourism, and federal support, the shutdown messaging could resonate.
Meanwhile, Democrats insist Republicans are responsible for the shutdown. But the NRCC is betting voters will see it differently framing Titus, Lee, and Horsford as part of the problem, not the solution.
The ad signals that the fight over the government shutdown is doubling as a preview of Nevada’s high-stakes 2026 congressional contests.
