Federal Government Shutdown Begins — Here’s What It Means for Nevada
By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, October 1, 2025 12:11 pm
As of October 1, 2025, the federal government has entered a partial shutdown after Congress failed to pass funding legislation by the deadline.
In Nevada, that pause affects nonessential federal services. Though national parks, passport processing, and other programs are impacted, operations like Social Security, Medicare, military services, and air traffic control continue under mandatory funding laws.
At Harry Reid International Airport, security lines remain active but travelers may start seeing delays as the shutdown stretches on.
