OPINION: I Attended Reno’s “No Kings” Rally. Read the Truth, and Sleep Well Tonight.

I went to the “No Kings” protest rally in downtown Reno Saturday morning.  Reno’s local media promoted it nonstop for the past two weeks. Obviously, they thought it was going to be the biggest story of the year (much bigger than the Israel/Hamas peace treaty). I felt I had to attend the protest in-person because it was promised to be a “historical event.”

It was less than that – much less.

The best comparison with the protest’s vibe would be a high school gym pep rally where no one really knows – or cares who their high school is playing in the upcoming football game. Everyone just follows the cheerleaders:  yelling and shouting on cue, insulting their upcoming opponent, and enjoying not having to go to their final period class.

So I was at the downtown Reno “Believe” plaza today, where several thousand lost Americans engaged in the following.

• Listening to speakers say little else besides how much they hated Trump for “ruining our democracy.”

“Ruining our democracy”?

First of all, today’s uber-Leftist crowd apparently didn’t know the U.S. is NOT a democracy. We are a constitutional republic.

Secondly, Trump’s enforcement of a variety of long-violated federal laws does not “ruin” a constitutional republic. It’s the only thing that protects and maintains it.

• Not one second of the protest gave credit where credit is due.

Today’s local Trump-haters either aren’t aware of –  or just ignored all of Trump’s recent accomplishments in the following areas, and many others.

• Fixing the massive illegal immigration problem, including: arresting thousands of drug dealers, gang members, sexual criminals, and violent felons

• Negotiating peace in 8 wars in 8 months (including the historic Palestine treaty)

• Making major tax cuts and increasing Social Security benefits.

• Strengthening the stock market and deregulating government overreach.

• Leveling the playing field regarding foreign trade, and recruiting huge foreign investment in US businesses.

And Trump is just getting started!

Starting the Protest with a non-prayer?

The “No Kings” Leftist organizers wanted to start today’s rally with a moment of spiritual solemnity typical of Republican gatherings. But the fact that their Democrat followers are primarily godless, required this to be totally non-religious. The organizers settled for having a “minister” lead them in a moment of unexplained silence, without mentioning the words “God” or “prayer.” The crowd was confused.

Protest attendees were then treated to call-and-response presentations by not-ready-for-prime-time speakers.

Speaker: “They say WE are afraid, but who are the REAL chickens?

Audience: “THEY are!”

Speaker: “They say WE are the mean ones, but who are the REAL mean ones?”

Audience: “THEY are!”   This continued ad nauseum.

Speakers competed to see who could regurgitate the most tired canards about how racist and unfair America is (presumably Trump’s fault?).

• A Latino union boss made non-specific complaints about the treatment of Latinos, but didn’t mention their record economic gains under Trump’s presidency.

• The local NAACP President gave a nonsensical rant about “(her) voting rights” being endangered by Trump. She implied that having to produce an ID when you vote would be discrimination. She closed her remarks by stating, “We all are ‘colored people'”, presuming perhaps, that all races should hop-on the I’m-a-victim train and stick together.

Protesters made no mention of Nevada’s Democrat-run, worst-in-the-nation public schools, nor did anyone criticize our democrat-majority legislature’s failure to make long overdue additions and deletions to the Nevada Revised Statutes.

If today’s Reno protest was typical of the Democrat party’s “No Kings” movement, then no one who cares about the future of our city, state, and nation should lose any sleep tonight.

The Far Left’s platform has clearly taken over every facet of Democrat party activity. They ignore traditional moral values and common-sense solutions that most voters agree on. They focus only on a Socialist/Communist approach that has no historical record of success.

But no one describes today’s Democrat party in all its failed iterations, from Washington DC to Reno, better than long-time Democrat strategist James Carville.

In describing today’s Democrat party in a 2025 New York Times op-ed, the “Ragin’ Cajun” wrote the following:

“(They are) Constipated. Leaderless. Confused. A cracked-out clown car. Divided. These are the words I hear my fellow Democrats using to describe our party as of late. The truth is they’re not wrong: The Democratic Party is in shambles”.

To which I’ll only add what today’s  “No Kings” minister was afraid to say after her moment of godless silence:

“Amen.”
