Meteorologists Warn Of Possible Flooding As New Storm Targets Las Vegas
By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, November 17, 2025 9:36 pm
The Las Vegas valley is preparing for another round of heavy rain that forecasters warn could lead to localized flooding. A flood watch is scheduled to take effect on Monday at 10 p.m. and will remain in place until Wednesday at 4 a.m., covering the period when the strongest moisture is expected to move through the region. Forecast models indicate that rainfall totals could range from about half an inch to one inch in many areas, with the possibility of higher amounts in spots that see isolated thunderstorms. Officials caution that even relatively modest rainfall can cause problems on roadways and in low-lying locations, especially where drainage is poor or where the ground is already saturated from previous storms. Drivers are advised to slow down, avoid standing water, and never attempt to cross flooded intersections. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates, follow instructions from local authorities, and secure outdoor items that could be displaced by gusty winds associated with passing storms.
