Carrie Cox Faces Trial in 2026 After Censure by Henderson City Council

Henderson City Councilwoman Carrie Cox appeared in court on Tuesday and entered a plea of not guilty after being indicted on a felony charge for allegedly recording a private conversation involving a fellow council member. The court date for trial has been set to begin on October 19, 2026.
The appearance follows a unanimous vote by the city council to censure Cox. While the censure does not remove her from office, it restricts her ability to serve on boards or commissions and limits her communications with colleagues to only the city manager, city attorney, or city clerk in specified meetings and briefings.
A grand jury returned the indictment earlier this month, charging Cox with using a mechanical or electronic device to monitor private conversations—a Category D felony under Nevada law. If convicted, she faces up to four years in prison and a fine up to $5,000.
