Susie Lee Trashes “No Tax on Tips” While Nevada’s Economy Proves Her Wrong

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, December 1, 2025 6:00 pm

Rep. Susie Lee is once again trying to rewrite economic reality in Nevada,  this time claiming that service workers “can’t benefit” from President Trump’s “No Tax on Tips” proposal because of what she calls a “#TrumpSlump.” The problem? The numbers don’t back her up. Not even close.

Nevada’s economy in 2025 has shown steady private-sector strengthrising wages, and hospitality gains the very sectors she claims are collapsing. According to the latest state data, unemployment has trended down, even as the state continues to add jobs in key industries. The only notable month-to-month dip this year came from construction, not hospitality or tipped jobs.

Despite that, Lee voted against “No Tax on Tips,” a policy that directly increases take-home pay for bartenders, servers, hotel workers, casino staff, and the backbone of Nevada’s service economy, the people she claims to be fighting for. Even worse, she once referred to worker tax relief as “crumbs.”

NRCC spokesman Christian Martinez blasted Lee’s spin and hypocrisy: “Under Trump, Nevada’s hospitality jobs are up, wages are rising, and unemployment is trending down. If @SusieLeeNV is concerned about service workers, she should stop voting AGAINST every policy that helps them, such as ‘No Tax on Tips,’ and stop dismissing bigger paychecks as ‘crumbs.’”

Lee’s votes tell the real story: she’s repeatedly sided with radical Democrats over Nevada workers, including voting against lower energy costs and against tax relief designed specifically to help families stretched thin by inflation.

Bottom line: Nevada’s service workers don’t need another press release, they need the policies Susie Lee keeps voting against. While she tweets, Nevada’s hospitality workers are seeing rising wages and improving job opportunities under Trump’s pro-growth agenda. And “No Tax on Tips” remains one of the clearest, simplest ways to put more money in their pockets, which Susie Lee voted against.
