LAS VEGAS. Police are investigating a murder-suicide that began in a southwest valley home and ended at a resort property on the Las Vegas Strip Thursday evening.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded at approximately 5:30 p.m. to reports of a stabbing in the 8200 block of West Cupertino Heights Way near Buffalo Drive and West Mountains Edge Parkway.
A second 911 call was received shortly after from a family member of the victim, who told dispatchers that a man had contacted them claiming he had killed the victim and intended to take his own life.
Officers arrived at the residence and entered the home, where they located a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Police rendered aid until medical personnel arrived, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that the suspect left the home using the victim’s vehicle and drove to a parking garage at a resort on the Las Vegas Strip. Officers later located the suspect using a police drone.
When officers approached and attempted to make contact, the suspect died by suicide before being taken into custody.
Preliminary findings indicate the two men were roommates and had been involved in an argument prior to the stabbing. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to review the circumstances leading up to the incident.
