Airport Chaos Hits Vegas as NRCC Targets Titus, Lee, Horsford Over DHS Shutdown

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, March 23, 2026 7:42 am

The National Republican Congressional Committee is launching a paid advertising blitz at Harry Reid International Airport, targeting Nevada Democrats Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford over the Department of Homeland Security shutdown that has left TSA agents working without pay.

The fallout is hitting travelers in real time.

With TSA stretched thin, airports across the country are grappling with longer lines, delays, and mounting frustration. Some airports have even begun turning to private security to keep operations moving as the federal workforce goes unpaid.

In Las Vegas, one of the busiest travel hubs in the country, the pressure is building. Tourists are waiting. Families are stuck in lines. TSA agents are showing up to work without a paycheck. And Republicans are making sure voters know who they blame.

The NRCC’s new ad campaign, placed directly inside Harry Reid International Airport, ties the chaos to Titus, Lee, and Horsford, accusing them of pushing a shutdown that has crippled homeland security operations and disrupted travel for everyday Americans.

The message is direct and unforgiving. Nevada Democrats shut down DHS. TSA agents are working for free. Americans are paying the price.

“Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford shut down homeland security while TSA agents work for free and Americans sit in hours-long security lines. It’s pure insanity, and voters won’t forget who betrayed them,” said NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez.

The political calculation is clear.

There are few places more visible than an airport security line. Few frustrations more universal than being stuck in one. And few moments more potent than tying that frustration to elected officials voters already view with skepticism.

In a tourism-driven state like Nevada, where the economy depends on smooth travel and steady visitor flow, disruptions at the airport carry outsized weight.

When travelers cannot get through security, the ripple effects hit workers, businesses, and the broader economy.

Republicans see an opening. They are turning a federal funding fight into a tangible, lived experience for voters standing in line, checking their watches, and wondering why the system is breaking down.

Short lines. Secure airports. Paid agents. That is the expectation.

Right now, Nevada voters are seeing the opposite. And the NRCC is making sure they know exactly who to hold accountable.
