In a press release, Attorney April Becker, who unsuccessfully challenged Democratic Rep. Susie Lee (CD-3) in 2022, has announced her candidacy for Clark County Commission District C and promises to restore honesty, transparency and accountability to Clark County “as the Commission continues to face a growing ethical scandal surrounding Justin Jones and his alleged destruction of evidence in a legal proceeding.”

Despite numerous calls to resign and an investigation from the Nevada Bar, Jones remains in office and his fellow commissioners, including current District C Commissioner Ross Miller, have refused to call on him to step down.

In 2020, Ross Miller held his seat by only 15 votes in a highly controversial and contested race against Republican challenger Stavros Anthony who is now Nevada’s Lieutenant Governor. The Clark County Commission has not had a Republican commissioner in over 15 years.

“The Clark County Commission has become a source of constant embarrassment,” said Becker. “Ross Miller’s rude and dismissive comments to a Clark County business owner show his lack of judgment and character. Their business matters to me, and the risk that all small business owners take is appreciated by myself and our community. Unfortunately, Ross Miller woke up on third base and thought he hit a triple; he doesn’t recognize the hard work and sacrifice it takes to succeed and grow a business. I’m running to restore honesty, transparency, and accountability to Clark County’s commission. I look forward to getting results for the people who call our community home and bringing leadership with integrity to our county commission.”
