Dina Defends Dictator: Downplays Venezuela’s Narco-State Record In Bizarre TV Interview

In a meandering NewsNation interview this week, Democrat Rep. Dina Titus delivered one of her most startling performances yet, accusing the United States of “possible war crimes” while defending a regime widely known for narcotrafficking, political repression, and violent human rights abuses.
Asked about bipartisan efforts to clarify war powers related to Venezuela, Titus launched into a rambling critique of the Trump administration, claiming “nobody knows exactly what happened” in recent maritime strikes and suggesting Americans should consider whether the actions amount to “war crimes.”
The congresswoman offered no evidence.
She didn’t cite intelligence.
She didn’t reference any congressional briefings.
She simply lobbed the phrase on national television, one of the most explosive allegations a lawmaker can make, then moved on as if she hadn’t just undermined U.S. credibility in front of adversaries around the world.
But Titus didn’t stop there. She also downplayed Venezuela’s involvement in transnational drug trafficking, even as U.S. intelligence agencies, including the DEA and DoD, have documented extensive cartel activity tied to Nicolás Maduro’s military and intelligence services.
Rather than acknowledge that reality, Titus dismissed it as an “excuse” for going after “regime change,” implying the administration’s motives were political rather than tied to decades of evidence of Venezuelan state-sponsored narcotrafficking.
For a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the amnesia is remarkable.
Nevada voters expect their representatives to be clear-eyed about threats to American security, not to give rhetorical cover to socialist dictatorships while smearing U.S. servicemembers with baseless accusations.
Instead, Titus chose the path of confusion, contradiction, and reckless commentary. And once again, Nevadans are left wondering whether the longest-serving Democrat in their delegation is simply out of her depth in foreign affairs.
