During his optimistic State of the State address on Monday, Republican Joe Lombardo declared that Nevada is open for business, effective immediately. Yesterday, Governor Lombardo joined Elon Musk and UNR President, former governor Brian Sandoval, to announce Tesla’s new $3.6B giga factory in Northern Nevada.
In a social media post, the governor declared, “this is an incredible investment in our state.”
Last night, I said that Nevada is open for business, effective immediately — and I meant it.

The facility will have four million square feet of new manufacturing space and two new manufacturing facilities which will be home to a cell factory and a high-volume electric semi factory. The expansion is expected to provide 3,000 new jobs.
During his Monday address, he challenged the Democratic majority in the legislature to reduce the modified business tax rate by 15 percent and adjust the commerce tax by raising the exemption from $4 million to $6 million. The Governor stated that “these tax reductions ensure that rising prices don’t created increased burdens for Nevada business.”

In a quick exchange with KOLO 8 news after the address, the governor told the reporter he is looking forward to “getting shit done” and it looks like the governor is charging ahead (pun intended).
