In his announcement, Anthony throws a little shade at the state-run primary, referring to it as a “show:”

“I enthusiastically endorse Donald J. Trump for President. In his first term, President Trump delivered 4 years of unprecedented prosperity fo all Americans, and particularly for Nevada, where we had years of record unemployment under President Trump’s leadership. President Trump and the America First movement will return safety and security to our communities by ending the crime wave being brought by our open borders.

President Trump endorsed me when I ran in 2022, and I am proud to endorse him in 2024. I will be caucusing for President Trump on February 8 and voting ‘None of the Candidates’ on the state-run show primary. I encourage all voters to do the same and take the next step towards returning our great country to stability and prosperity.”

Nevada Republicans have participated in caucus primaries since 1980 and maintain that it is the purest form of voter participation and election integrity as the caucus will require identification to vote and will release the results from each precinct that evening– as opposed to the state-run presidential primary which is estimated to cost Nevada taxpayers $5 million and will include universal mail balloting and delayed election results.

Niki Haley is the only viable candidate who will appear on the primary ballot, but by choosing the primary she forfeited Nevada delegates needed for the party’s nomination. Like Anthony, many state-wide Republican officials are encouraging voters to select “None of the Above” on the primary ballot.

Trump was the first to sign up for the caucus and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis followed. They are the only two remaining candidates in the GOP field who are eligible for Nevada delegates.
