Lombardo Opposes USPS Proposal To Move Reno Mail Operations to Sacramento
‘Forcing what the USPS considers to be a good business decision on Northern Nevadans while risking reliable and timely mail service…is unacceptable’

Governor Joe Lombard has penned a letter (see below) to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy opposing the UPS proposal to transfer Reno mail operations to Sacramento in California, a move that Lombardo notes will detrimentally impact Northern Nevadans and commerce.
Lombardo reminded the agency of the recent snowstorms that shut down 1-80 creating stalled transportation, deliveries and shipping which impacted the most vulnerable populations with critical needs.
It can also be detrimental to life saving medications, social security checks, ballots and elections if @USPS moves Reno’s mail-processing ops to Sacramento.

“Forcing what the USPS considers to be a good business decision on Northern Nevadans while risking reliable and timely mail service for our hard-working families, seniors, veterans, and small businesses is not acceptable,” the Governor stated.
Lombardo echoed the concerns of his fellow Republican Congressman Mark Amodei and Democratic senators Cortez Masto and Rosen, citing that the State of Nevada has “serious concerns” about “compromising the votes” of Nevadans as the state is a universal mail balloting state.
Earlier this week, Democratic Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar announced he was against the proposal in a letter to Postmaster DeJoy.
Governor Lombardo additionally notes that many state agencies, including to the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Health and Human Services would be negatively impacted by the proposed relocation.

In the past – some media reported that Vegas people who moved – and filed a forwarding request-might have their mail sorted in Phoenix… some Lake Havasu AZ mail has been sorted in Vegas in past.
None of this is a good idea, snow, ice, mail truck accidents… the USPS should charge more to big online retailers- and quit penny pinching on consumer mail, ( although cheap online retailer postage – could be said to benefit consumers.)
Another problem, is the deranged green extremism that is being inflicted on the Post office. What if there is a winter power outage or a summer rolling blackouts? How will they charge EVs? Like AM radio – you need basic backup services in case the high tech has disruptions.
Fortunately Lombardo put the brakes on some of the Green Extremism.
