Nevada Dems Sell Out Public Safety, Vote to Defund ICE and Side With Radical Left

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, February 5, 2026 2:00 pm

Nevada Democrats just told voters exactly where they stand, and it is nowhere near public safety.

Democrats Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford cast a reckless vote against funding the federal government, choosing the radical left over Nevadans who expect law and order to mean something. This was not a protest vote or a messaging stunt. It was a calculated decision that puts ideology first and public safety last.

Their opposition to funding was driven by a familiar demand from the activist class. Defund ICE. Undercut enforcement. Look the other way while criminal illegal immigrants exploit a broken system. As NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez put it, “When the far left demands obedience, Titus, Lee, and Horsford cave, defund law enforcement, and leave Nevadans to pay the price.” That price is being paid right now by families who just want safe neighborhoods and a functioning government.

Let the record show what this vote really means. Titus, Lee, and Horsford are perfectly willing to tolerate a partial shutdown if it advances their goal of defunding law enforcement. They are fine risking public safety so long as the radical base stays satisfied. The consequences are not theoretical. Border communities strain. Fentanyl spreads. Victims are left behind.

This is the same tired playbook voters have seen before. Talk moderation back home, then fold in Washington the moment activists snap their fingers. The result is chaos sold as compassion, and Nevadans are done being the testing ground for failed ideas.

While families worry about crime and chaos, these Democrats side with a fringe that demands less enforcement and more excuses. Law enforcement exists to protect the innocent, not to be sacrificed for ideological purity.

The choice is clear. Nevadans want a secure border, a funded government, and leaders who put safety first. Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford chose the opposite.
