NEVADA DEMS TURN BACK ON RURAL HEALTHCARE FUNDING

Nevada’s rural hospitals are hanging by a thread and Democrats in Washington just yanked away a lifeline.
Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford voted against legislation that would have delivered tens of millions of dollars to strengthen rural healthcare across Nevada, rejecting funding designed to keep hospitals open and expand access for families far from urban centers.
The funding, part of the Rural Health Transformation Program, targeted communities that don’t have the luxury of big-city hospitals down the street. In much of rural Nevada, patients already drive hours for emergency care, seniors struggle to see specialists, and hospitals face constant risk of closure.
Instead of backing the investment, Nevada Democrats voted no.
Republicans say the vote exposes a familiar pattern: when forced to choose between helping working families or toeing the party line in Washington, Democrats choose politics. While Republicans worked to deliver real dollars for rural hospitals, Titus, Lee, and Horsford rejected the measure outright.
The backlash was swift from the National Republican Committee:
“Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford’s vote against critical healthcare funding for Nevada communities is a slap in the face to Nevadans who have continued to be ignored by Democrats. While Republicans deliver results, Titus, Lee, and Horsford continue to play partisan political games,” said Christian Martinez.
The contrast is hard to miss as rural hospitals nationwide continue to close at alarming rates, leaving communities with fewer doctors, longer emergency response times, and higher costs. In a state defined by vast distances and small towns, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
For rural Nevadans, the money was on the table, the need was obvious, and the vote was clear — and Republicans say voters won’t forget who walked away when healthcare access was on the line.
