Nevada’s Kids Are Paying the Price for Democrat Priorities

Nevada now ranks last in the nation for youth sports participation, according to new reporting,  a red flag for parents, educators, and anyone who understands that sports are about more than trophies. They teach discipline, teamwork, confidence, and healthy competition. Yet for too many Nevada families, the cost of signing their kids up has become prohibitive, and it’s only getting worse.
That didn’t happen by accident.
As families struggle with rising registration fees, equipment costs, and travel expenses, Washington Democrats — including Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford — have been busy voting for policies that squeeze working parents even harder.
Instead of prioritizing Nevada families, these Democrats have backed taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants, driving up demand on public resources and inflating costs across the board. When government spending explodes, families always get the bill — whether it shows up in higher taxes, higher fees, or fewer affordable opportunities for their kids.
And when it came time to give families relief, Titus, Lee, and Horsford went the opposite direction.
Rather than extending the Trump-era tax cuts that helped working families keep more of their own money, Democrats voted against them — paving the way for what amounts to the largest tax increase since World War II. That’s not an abstract Washington debate. That’s real money out of Nevada parents’ pockets — money that could have gone toward sports leagues, school activities, or simply keeping the lights on.
The result? Families are forced to make impossible choices. Youth sports become a luxury instead of a norm. Kids miss out on the physical, social, and emotional benefits that come with being part of a team. And Nevada sinks to the bottom of the national rankings while politicians in D.C. congratulate themselves for expanding government.
Conservatives have always understood a simple truth: when families thrive, kids thrive. Lower taxes, responsible spending, and policies that put citizens first make it easier for parents to invest in their children’s futures — on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.
Nevada’s last-place ranking should be a wake-up call. If Democrats keep prioritizing illegal immigrant benefits, bloated government, and massive tax hikes over working families, Nevada kids will keep paying the price — one missed season at a time.
