Oyo Hotel & Casino Halts Alcohol Sales for Second Time in 12 Months

LAS VEGAS, NV — Operations at the Oyo Hotel & Casino were disrupted again after the off-Strip resort abruptly halted all alcoholic beverage service across its bars, casino floor, and dining venues.
The stoppage marks the second time in less than a year that the budget-friendly hotel-casino—located at 115 East Tropicana Avenue, just east of the Las Vegas Strip—has been forced to suspend alcohol sales.
According to notices posted throughout the casino floor and reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the service freeze took effect at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026.
While slot machines, table games, and lodging accommodations remain open to the public, the property’s main bars, beverage service wells, and restaurant taps were blocked off and taken out of service.
Property management has not issued an official public statement detailing the cause of the sudden suspension, though hotel staff cited potential insurance coverage discrepancies and regulatory compliance holds.
The Clark County Department of Business License, which governs liquor and gaming licensing across unincorporated Clark County, has not released formal administrative findings regarding the property’s operational standing.

A Pattern of Operational and Licensing Strains
The current dry spell mirrors an identical disruption that hit the property in October 2025, when alcohol sales were suspended for approximately 10 days.
That earlier freeze stemmed from an abrupt split between Oyo and its third-party operator, Highgate Hotels.
Under Clark County licensing regulations, liquor authorizations are tied to the verified licensee rather than the physical real estate.
Because Highgate was the designated license holder on file with the county, terminating the management contract left Oyo legally unauthorized to pour or sell liquor until emergency administrative transfers and provisional permits were cleared.
The relationship between the entities had fractured following a high-profile cyberattack in early 2025 that compromised the personal records of roughly 4,700 guests, players, and casino staff, heightening disputes over operational oversight.
The property also drew scrutiny this past summer when third-party booking portals, including Booking.com and Expedia, launched reviews into unauthorized room listings under the name “Palette Las Vegas” tied to the 115 East Tropicana address.
Oyo later claimed the listing was an unreleased dual-brand concept published prematurely.
Regulatory Hurdles in Clark County
Serving alcohol in Southern Nevada’s resort corridor requires strict compliance across county statutes, including maintaining active commercial liability insurance, up-to-date state tax clearances, and vetted key-employee background approvals.
