THE $2.61 MILLION QUESTION: Nevadans Ask What They Got From Titus’ 15 Years in Congress

Rep. Dina Titus has received roughly $2.61 million in congressional salary through the end of 2025 during her 15 years in the U.S. House, putting the longtime Nevada Democrat’s taxpayer-funded compensation under renewed scrutiny as Republican challenger Carrie Buck repeatedly outraises her.

Rank-and-file members of Congress have earned $174,000 annually since 2009. Titus served in Congress in 2009 and 2010 before returning in 2013, meaning 15 full years of congressional salary through 2025 totals approximately $2.61 million.

During that period, two bills sponsored by Titus have ultimately become law. GovTrack data reported by The Nevada Globe showed Titus missed more than 36 percent of House votes between July and September 2025, placing her in the 99th percentile for missed votes during that specific three-month period.

Titus’ taxpayer-funded compensation predates Washington. After leaving Congress in 2011, she returned to UNLV at a reported annual salary of $107,855. Contemporary criticism noted that she was teaching one conventional class per semester, although her university responsibilities also included other academic and media work.

The scrutiny comes as Buck has posted three consecutive quarters of stronger fundraising. Buck raised $436,000 in the first quarter of 2026 compared with Titus’ $304,000, after also outraising her in the final quarter of 2025. Buck then announced an $815,000 second-quarter haul.

NRCC spokesman Christian Martinez said, “Dina Titus has turned public service into a taxpayer-funded retirement plan where Nevadans pick up the tab, get virtually nothing in return and are increasingly ready to show her the door.”

That leaves Titus defending a long congressional tenure at the same time Buck is trying to make longevity itself part of the case against the incumbent.
