Today, the Nevada Globe announced their sponsorship of the only Reno mayoral debate of the 2022 election. It will be held on Thursday, October 27 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, beginning at 7 p.m. The invited participants are challenger George “Eddie” Lorton and incumbent Mayor Hillary Schieve.
“The Globe’s goal has always been to provide obsessive coverage of the people who make our state run,” said founding editor, Megan Barth.
“Debate is essential to our democracy and in a political contest as important to Nevada as the Reno mayoral race, we were surprised to learn there were no plans to openly discuss the issues facing the community and the ideas and solutions that are being proposed by each campaign. The Globe has now stepped in to fill that void. We want to ensure that before Reno voters cast their ballots, they have the opportunity to listen to each candidate and hear their plans for leading Reno into the future.”
Barth continued, “The debate will be 90 minutes in length and include questions regarding all of Reno’s most challenging issues, including homelessness, the economy, crime and law enforcement, the city budget, water, building development, Covid crisis management, political appointments, and leadership styles.”
Barth will be one of the two debate moderators. She has written for The Hill, The Washington Times, The Daily Wire, American Thinker, Canada Free Press, and The Daily Caller and has appeared frequently on, among others, Headline News CNN, NewsMax TV, and One America News Network.
Co-moderating the debate will be 43-year broadcast veteran Eddie Floyd. Floyd is the founder, CEO, and show host for America Matters Media.
