Confirming a scoop by the Las Vegas Review Journal (RJ), the NFL officially awarded Super Bowl LVIII to Las Vegas. It will be held at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, on February 11, 2024. Allegiant Stadium will also host the 2022 Pro Bowl and the 2022 NFL Draft.
According to the RJ: “The original hosting duties for Super Bowl LVIII were awarded to New Orleans. But when the NFL recently added a 17th game to its schedule, the end of the regular season was pushed ahead by a week. As a result, the 2024 season-ending championship game was moved from Feb. 4 to Feb. 11, and created a conflict with New Orleans’ annual Mardi Gras celebration.”
Officials believe the economic impact will be an additional $500 million in the city and over a weekend that has been a destination for football fans.

The Las Vegas Raiders started the season with promise, going 5-2 over their first seven games, but have now lost five of their last six games and looked lost during a 48-9 drubbing last Sunday in Kansas City. In addition to their losing streak, the team fired head coach Jon Gruden over a series of leaked emails, released star rookie wide receiver Henry Ruggs as a result of his arrest over a DUI fatality, and lost superstar tight end Darren Walker to an injury.
“It’s a big day for the Raiders,” club owner Mark Davis said. “It’s a big day for the city of Las Vegas. I think it’s a marriage made in heaven, I’ll say. Some others may use a different word.”
In an additional comment that has since gone viral, Davis remarked, “When you’re not winning on the field, it’s nice to win off it.”
