The Nevada Democratic Party Spokesperson Katharine (KC) Kurz and the Communication Director of Senator Jacky Rosen’s campaign Johanna Warshaw have accused U.S. Senate GOP candidate Captain Sam Brown of grifting off of his life story in an upcoming biography entitled, “Alive Day.”
According to the book’s website, the book is a “captivating story of Captain Sam Brown, Purple Heart veteran and American leader, written in is own words with his wife Amy Brown.” At the age of 24, Brown nearly lost his life to a road side bomb while serving in Afghanistan and suffered life-altering burns to 30 percent of his body. While in recovery, he fell in love with Amy his nurse, who then became his wife.
Brown promoted his book on X (formerly Twitter) and drew the ire of Kurz and Warshaw:
new grift just droppeddddd https://t.co/lxelofRBQe

Don't worry Sam, have a feeling there will be plenty of time for you to promote your latest grift after November 5th https://t.co/tb77fwFtJv

The Rosen campaign and Nevada Democrats have consistently characterized Brown as a MAGA extremist, specific to Sam’s pro-life views which include an exception for rape, incest and life of the mother. At the time when Amy Brown revealed to NBC news in an interview that she had an abortion at an earlier age, Rosen’s campaign demanded that NBC correct it’s “demonstrably false headline” and “misleading reporting” related to that interview.
It’s crystal clear Rosen’s team and the state party dislike the Browns, but the political pot-shots at Captain Brown’s life story is a “terrible new low” in Nevada politics, according to the Brown campaign.
Kristy Wilkinson, Communications Director for the Brown campaign, told The Globe:
“Sam Brown has been through hell and back. It’s a terrible new low for the Nevada Democrats and Jacky Rosen’s team to attack his story of spiritual and physical recovery after surviving a roadside explosion in Afghanistan.
Jacky Rosen seems determined to divide voters with hateful rhetoric aimed at Sam and his wife, Amy, because they simply share their inspiring life stories with Nevadans. It’s clear that Jacky Rosen and her team cannot win by talking about the nearly 8 years she’s spent in DC ignoring Nevada voters and the issues we face at home.
The Jacky Rosen campaign would rather spend its time viciously attacking and lying about a veteran family who is sacrificing everything again to serve America with honor.”
In an emailed statement to The Globe, Katharine Kurz doubled-down: “Scam Brown is using his latest run for office to focus on selling a book and lining his own pockets instead of talking to voters in a state he just moved to a few years ago. Why else would he have the pre-sale start two months before the election?,” said Kurz.
